"At a dinner, I observed how my friend and artist Guillermo eat spaghetti with his hands. I was surprised at how consistent his way of eating was with his paintings of animals, food and women, so I painted him in that fashion while staring at his then girlfriend Javiera, whom I painted elegant and demure, to enhance the contrast. In the painting, I wanted to represent the solitude of the artist, adrift in the depths of his peculiar inner world and the complexities of a relationship with a loved one".
